I love to travel throughout the states
Always ready to explore
No pre-made maps for me to read
Being found is such a bore

Let’s head out toward Odessa
Avoid the crowds this mid-July
We can sleep outside among the snakes
While the wild coyotes cry

You want to sleep indoors instead?
Here’s a book I’ve hardly used
It says, “We Welcome You to Texas”
The Texas of ‘72

Why do we always need more gas
When we’re in some Twilight Zone?
Either we need to buy a larger tank
Or a stronger cellular phone

We’re now on highway 31
Or is it 43?
In any case, adventure awaits
